What types of materials are used in custom motocross graphics?
We use only the highest-quality Substance Incorporated material specifically designed for motocross that ensures your kit will hold up to abuse while still remaining flexible enough to form around difficult curves.
Most motocross graphics use the classic combo: white vinyl with a glossy laminate. But we offer a few other material options that can completely change the look and feel of your kit.
Graphics are made from two layers: a printed base layer (called a substrate) and a clear protective layer on top (the laminate). These layers can be mixed and matched for different visual effects and finishes.
Here’s a quick breakdown of the materials we use:
Substrates
White: The standard. Bright, accurate color reproduction and the best match for OEM plastic. This is what most people are used to—and for good reason.
Chrome: Printed on metallic chrome vinyl. Any areas left unprinted show pure chrome, and colors take on a darker, metallic tone. We can also add white ink beneath parts of the design to block the chrome effect in specific areas.
Transparent: Clear vinyl that shows the bike’s surface underneath. Popular on swingarms and fork tubes. Just note: colors can look a bit muted compared to white substrate, depending on the design and print process.
Laminates
Glossy: The default for most riders. Rich color, a clean finish, and strong durability.
Matte: Muted, textured, and stealthy—especially good for blacked-out designs. Slightly dulls color and can wear faster than glossy. Not ideal for chrome or transparent substrates, since it kills the effect.
Sparkle: Like glossy, but with metallic flakes embedded in the laminate for a glittery finish. Flashy in the best way.
